Luxury Hotel in New York - A 2022 Project with Six Senses
A new Luxury Hotel will be born in 2022, in New York. A completely innovative experience created by a luxury hotel chain and the wellness brand Six Senses. The chosen location is an innovative mixed-use development called The XI.
By Marta Tuna
“The architecture project rises above the Hudson River in West Chelsea, a vibrant neighborhood right in the heart of New York. The XI was designed by the distinguished Bjarke Ingels and offers 236 condominium residences, besides the luxury hotel, Six Senses New York. The architecture project has two towers, one standing 400 feet tall and featuring luxury condominium residences designed by award-winning firm Gabellini Sheppard Associates, and another tower standing 300 feet tall, also featuring luxury condominium residences with interiors designed by renowned Parisian firm Gilles & Boissier. Six Senses manages these 60,000 square feet and it is the epitome of luxury hotels, with services in wellness, nutrition, lifestyle, spa and fitness.
The launch of the Six Senses Luxury Hotel and Residences New York is expected to take place in 2022 and is a collaboration of amazingly creative minds who chose exciting New York City as the perfect location.
Architecturally, the twisting towers, designed by Bjarke Ingels, defy standards and gift New York City with a less rectangular environment. Inside, the Six Senses New York will be more than just a luxury hotel, but an experience to be lived and enjoyed by residential owners, hotel guests and local club members. The services are varied and go from wellness programs to large working spaces and entertainment.
The luxury hotel follows the same sustainable principals as all the Six Senses projects and occupies ten floors of one of the towers, with 136 guest rooms and suites, two restaurants and a café with an outdoor terrace.
Design firm Gilles & Boissier was responsible for the interior design which follows the sustainable theme. A neutral color palette meets natural materials and organic shapes, harmoniously combining imperfect furnishings with perfect design. Wood accent walls and stonework make of this luxury hotel and residences an Oasis in Manhattan. The interior design also honors artists and craftsmen by having many of their work featured in the luxury hotel. Contemporary design meets nature inspired spaces in an unprecedented design project.
The global pandemic was a challenge for Six Senses, and some of the architecture and interior design had to be re-thought to give response to new needs. The launching had also to be re-scheduled, but this did not slow down the brand, which has been working in other projects such as the Six Senses Place, a 45,000 square-foot area which combines rooms for health seminars, co-working areas and other stylish spots.
Residence owners at The XI will also be able to enjoy access to the amenities curated and managed by the brand including the Six Senses New York, and the new wellness concept Six Senses Place, besides receiving exclusive access to select a la carte Six Senses New York hotel services including laundry, dry cleaning, housekeeping, in-home spa treatments, valet parking, and in-residence dining and catering (exclusions and additional charges may apply).
This amazing design project and luxury hotel is meant to open in 2022 and we cannot wait to see it come to life!”
