Last year, when Jonathan Adler was asked to redesign the 309 guest rooms and suites of the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa in Manalapan, Fla., he worked with three colors.

“When I think of Palm Beach, I think of the blue of the sea, and of the sky, and the white of the fluffy clouds and the yellow of the sun,” he said. He used different shades of turquoise on the bedroom doors, side chairs and carpet, and designed what he called a “squiggly” headboard upholstered in a blue-on-white floral print.

Photos by Slim Aarons hang in every room, including one with a film producer and his family in an amphibious car (shown). “Slim’s motto was about attractive people doing attractive things,” Mr. Adler said. “Hotels should be places for folly and fantasy.”

The $12.5 million renovation is set to be completed Dec. 1, with rates starting at $299 a night. Information: 561-533-6000 or eaupalmbeach.com.
